The Ouroboros, a snake or dragon devouring it’s own tail, is a symbol of Eternal Recurrence taken from Alchemy. Nietzsche called Eternal Recurrence “horrifying and paralyzing” and felt that the ultimate affirmation of life would be its acceptance, the actual desire for everything to happen again. In other words: Amor Fati.
