Disney’s latest 3-D animated film Mars Needs Moms may be one of the biggest box office bombs of all time.
Distribution president Chuck Viane was scratching his head on Sunday morning. “No one ever wants to open a movie this far below expectations,” he said. “We’re wondering what happened.” Looking at the box office numbers, however, it was clear. “Not enough people came to see it,” Viane said, utterly baffled.
Over the next two months, three new animated films will be released, Rio, Hoodwinked Too! and Kung Fu Panda The Next Generation, all of them touching, heart-warming, and generic. “Simple fare for simple folks,” Viane said.
When asked if Disney or Hollywood as a whole will ever make a movie that was truly interesting and did not follow an obvious formula, Viane responded, “Are you insane? That would be creative.”
Mars Needs Moms is currently showing nationwide to a handful of people with too much money.
