This is Carl the toad. He lived in my yard this summer (somewhere over by the fence, I think). It took quite a bit of convincing to get him to pose for this photograph, since he’s so shy. As you know, most toads are very over-the-top, in-your-face, outgoing, gregarious, life-of-the-of-the-party types, but not so much Carl. He’s more cerebral, like me. Perhaps that’s why we got along so well. I miss Carl. I miss summer. I hope Carl’s ok. What do toads do in the winter? If I know Carl, and I think I do, he’s down in Florida right now with some hot Latina mama, using his forked reptilian tongue on her nether regions. Do toads have forked tongues?
Anyway. To Carl, where ever he may be!
